POSTIVE ACTION - IN
THE METROPOLITAN POLICE
FEMALE INSPECTORS
IN THE MET
This initiative has brought together a group of female inspectors who
are considered to have the potential to go further but most of
whom have not to date considered promotion. The group are working on a
number of themes to help raise their confidence and recognise their skills.
"The Met police's
Child Abuse Investigation Command is working with Ackroyd Consulting at
the strategic and tactical levels developing initiatives to assist senior
female detectives in promotion and guiding managers in how to lead a predominantly
female workforce. Her knowledge and experience of our specialist environment
has proved invaluable in identifying practical ideas to ensure we maintain
a motivated and committed workforce".

OFFICERS AND STAFF
DEVELOPMENT IN THE MET
One
day assertiveness skills training was provided to over 60 women officers
and staff in the child abuse command team. Women reported increased confidence
in asserting themselves appropriately, and had more confidence to go for
new roles and take new initiatives.
"Sarah Ackroyd
supported the Child Abuse Command of the MPS by providing a series of
workshops for female staff and officers. I was impressed with her professional
approach, the quality of the handouts,
and in particular her ability
to adapt the main theme of the series to maximise the benefits for the
particular audience on the day.
